Accreditation and Membership Committee

The Accreditation and Membership Committee recommends to the Board of Directors the criteria for accreditation and membership into VAISEF, nominations for VAISEF membership, renewals of membership and makes reports to the Board. The Committee processes all applications for accreditation and membership.

Membership Recruitment

The Membership Recruitment Committee is responsible for developing and administering a process for identifying, recruiting and registering potential members.

Quality Services Committee

Responsible for collection and analysis of association member facility student outcomes data, as well as continued development and refinement of outcomes survey tool.  The Committee also coordinates with institutes of higher learning to develop exclusive cohort programs which enable VAISEF school staff to pursue licensure in special education.  The goal of this effort is to improve retention and recruitment of quality professional staff for our schools.

Governmental Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee has the responsibility of reviewing proposed legislation, available funds and Virginia State Department of Education regulations to make recommendations to the VAISEF Board of Directors to develop positions and action plans on these issues. The Committee also researches and proposes legislation and regulations, and amendments to both when in the best interests of persons with special needs and of the public and private facilities serving those persons.

Membership Services Committee

The Membership Services Committee is responsible for proposing and coordinating the implementation of information exchanges and cooperative service arrangements between member facilities, as well as any other means of capitalizing on the collective experience represented in the Association and sharing it with all members. The Committee is also oversees the planning and coordination of all VAISEF conferences, seminars and membership meetings.

Ways and Means Committee

The Ways and Means Committee makes recommendations regarding all VAISEF budget and financing matters. The Committee also reviews the by-laws of the Association and makes recommendations regarding amendments. In each biennial election year, the Committee considers and submits to the Secretary a list of the nominees for the offices of the Association. The Committee also monitors and makes recommendations on the membership of all VAISEF committees.
