Compliance Coordinator (VDOE & HUD)

Overview

Provides facilitative leadership in the forms of consultation, technical assistance with contracts and regulatory interpretation, and other forms of support to Program Directors to ensure VDOE and HUD regulations are integrated into service delivery, monitoring, documentation, and reporting in a meaningful way.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains background and current knowledge of the regulations and standards promulgated by the VA Department of Education (VDOE) as they pertain to Education; the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA);  and Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities (VAISEF)
  • Reviews and provides oversight of the applicable licensing regulations, compliance issues and  (Risk Assessments)for the agency services and system in accordance with state and federal law and/or applicable standards
  • Coordinates and conducts internal quality audits and assessments, and provides oversight for the regulatory assessments and quality audits in support of continuous improvement and regulatory and accreditation compliance
  • Reviews and investigates Serious Incident Reports to assess areas of risk and vulnerabilities to clients and visitors, and recommends alternative practices to reduce or eliminate the risks
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with regulatory agencies such as VDOE, HUD, OSHA, VAISEF, placing agencies and localities
  • Maintains working knowledge of the programs, services, policies and procedures of St. Joseph’s Villa
  • Functions as first point of contact for licensing visits, regulatory and contractual changes, ongoing monitoring or regulation updates and changes
  • Ensures that FERPA and HIPPA requirements are met by the services, including maintenance of logs, and liaising with clients or guardians with concerns about the protection and release of privileged information
  • Conducts ongoing and random audits and assessments  of public and private client records to include record retention  according to the criteria set forth  by all regulatory bodies
  • Assists with trainings that support documentation and compliance processes (such as monitoring, auditing and investigation activities) and internal integration of technical and regulatory knowledge
  • Works with the admissions office to ensure integration of  all regulatory requirements in the admissions process  including documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or human services field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Three (3) years’ experience implementing and improving processes to meet professional quality standards
  • Proficiency with Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet research
  • Experience with proprietary software and statistical analysis software such as SPSS (preferred)
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and excellent driving record
