VAISEF Member Job Posting – Oakland School

Working as the Residential Director at Oakland School, you will have an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students ages 6-13 with and without Learning Differences such as Dyslexia and ADHD. You will also be working closely with the school team that includes residential staff, administration, other staff, and parents.

Director Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Child Care and Management:

Ensuring general safety of dorms, developing students’ individual goals with faculty, providing crisis management, coordinating communication with parents, and enforcing health procedures implemented by school nurse.

Personnel:

Hiring staff for summer and winter residential program, conducting daily meetings with staff, training and providing staff with developmental experiences, and delivering employees feedback on their performance.

Administration and Facilities:

Managing the budget for Residential Program, reviewing and improving recreation, sports, and child care programs, and coordinating community interactions and off-campus trips.

Communication:

Attending program meetings with other staff weekly, contacting parents regularly, and checking in with head of school daily.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years’ experience in the human services field, at least two of which shall have been in a residential facility for children

or

A high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate and a minimum of five years’ experience in the human services field, with at least three years in a residential facility for children.
