Charterhouse School in Edinburg, VA is seeking to fill 12-month Principal with a passionate and dedicated leader. This person will be responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of Charterhouse School-Edinburg. Master’s in Education or equivalent required.

  • Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of all educational programs and services.  Identifies new options, expansion of services, and enhancement of current services.  Responsible for strategic planning, organizational change, assessment, training, and problem solving for all educational staff.
  • Obtains and maintains all appropriate accreditations and license with VAISEF and VDOE.
  • Supervises staff, which involves direct or indirect responsibilities for interviewing, selecting, training, developing, motivation, appraising performance, developing goals, reviewing salary administration, and formulating corrective action in accordance with policies and procedures, current state and federal laws.
  • Prepares and monitors school budget in accordance with Agency procedures.  Fiscally manages costs by monitoring budget, negotiating purchases, and adjusting census.
  • Ensures the use of trauma responsive interventions and restorative disciplinary practices.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with LEAs and parents/guardians of students
  • Responsible for the continued collaboration with community partners and local school divisions
  • Oversees the career and technical education programs.
  • Communicates with parents, teachers, and related personnel concerning education and behavioral issues.
  • Meets with staff on a regular and recurring basis to review educational and behavioral activities to assure quality of programs.
  • Provides written and/or oral reports of programs and activities as required.
  • Inspects school building property frequently to ensure safety and security.
  • Requisitions and allocates supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Requests maintenance Work Orders as needed.
  • Serves on, participates in, and attends internal and external committees
  • Provides physical restraints according to agency procedure/policy.
  • Develops professional growth by attending appropriate internal/external trainings, soliciting advice from others concerning problem or improvement areas and using coaching opportunities.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities for personal and professional growth.


Directly supervises 12-15 employees in the Charterhouse School and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities: interviewing, selecting, training, developing, motivating, completing performance reviews, developing goals, reviews salary administration, formulates corrective actions to address complaints and resolve problems in accordance with the Agency policies and procedures, current state and federal laws.


Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Education or equivalent; and four (4) to ten (10) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentations, and Internet software.
