VAISEF Member Job Posting – Northstar Academy – IEP/IAP Liaison

The IEP/IAP Coordinator works as a liaison with public schools, parents, and teachers to develop IEP’s/IAP’s and provide accurate meaningful information and requested information to appropriate personnel. The liaison also assists administration with daily operations of the school. The liaison position is essential to the student recruitment/retention process.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend IEP/IAP, Service Plan, and FAPT meetings.
  • Coordinate & Administer SOL’s, VGLA’s, VAAPS and other assessments, Northstar testing and other testing as needed.
  • Keep abreast of specific information i.e. testing, SOL’s, IDEA, NCLB, updates and other requirements that affect the school.
  • Assist with developing and completing master schedule.
  • Chaperone student activities.
  • Responsible for community interaction and resource referral recommendations.
  • Advise, consult and ensure curriculum materials are current and available.
  • Responsible for Outcomes and data for specific programs as designated by the Head of School.
  • Provide school wide leadership with programs.
  • Provide school wide leadership direction with integration, in-service training and oversight for technology.
  • Assumes administrative responsibilities when Head of School/Assistant Head is away from campus.
  • Quality Control: Creates and reviews individual Student Education Plans/Academic Plans.
  • Student data and progress collection for individual students.
  • Meeting with parents, LEA’s etc. for student case and service reviews.
  • Works with independent quality control individuals regarding program review.
  • Attends vendor fairs.
  • Coordinates, plans and works with Head of School to implement school wide social skills program.
  • Assists with the daily running of school and other administrative responsibilities with other Liaisons and Director of Finance and Operations if Head of School and Assistant Head of School is away.

Required Education, Experience, Expertise, Skills: Education: College Degree Masters Degree preferred Must hold a valid Virginia Teaching License Must be endorsed in Special Education Experience: 2 – 5 years working with students with disabilities.
